I don't take these for granted, as there are many in the world who are in poverty, in hunger, in the turmoil of war. And they don't see a way out of their plight, even for the next generation. I was born in post-war Singapore and since I was born, I have only experienced peace and a secure environment from which I can stretch myself to realize my potential. My role as a Singaporean is to continue to toil the earth to keep Singapore fertile, so that future generations can be as privileged as me."
